Iranian Forces State Strike on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Counterattacks.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations across the region in retaliation for a significant and continuing attack against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity near the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is unclear and the United States has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted sites linked to the the regime, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," the statement continued.
It said wreckage landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
